Wine tasting in the open air

If you drive through the Rheingau in the summer months, you will discover them everywhere: small but fine wine tasting stands. Guests have the opportunity to taste different wines in the open air and in an informal atmosphere.

On September 6, 1814, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe wrote the following insightful entry in his Rheingau Diary: "Autumn days in the Rheingau: The quality of the wine depends on the vineyard site, but also on the timing of the harvest. The poor and the rich are constantly at odds over this; the former want quantity, the latter want good wine."
